Keeping Kids' Toothbrushes Clean

Being the ultra-conscious-of-germs type of kids that they are (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA), my girls have a knack for dropping their toothbrushes on the bathroom floor. Unable to replace their toothbrushes every time I find them there, I've had to find a way to disinfect them. I just throw them in the silverware container of my dishwasher and run them with the dishes on the antibacterial cycle. They come out soft and looking brand new. It makes me feel better. : )

Here's my past WFMW entries.

I didn't think of putting them in the dishwasher. I usually will boil some water and put the toothbrushed in for um 5 min or so. I do this especially when we get back from a trip and put our travel toothbrushed in. I don't want them to sit waiting for the next trip growing stuff!

I had a friend share this with me once and I have done it a few times. Especially since my kids have a knack for dropping a brand new t'brush on the floor!

Ooo...I like that idea! I've always wondered if they'd survive a short go-round in the micorwave, but haven't had the courage to try yet. But wait, I'm not sure I have the AB cycle on mine dishwhasher. Maybe I'll send the kids up the hill with their toothbrushes tomorrow for you to wash them ;) LOL!!!

Yep..I do this too Becky...
Also..each time a child gets sick w/ a cold, etc. The toothbrushes should be changed for new ones!

What happens if you don't have an anti-bacterial cycle on your dishwasher? I think my dishwasher must be too old!

We do this too! Especially after someone has been sick. You can even put the Sonicare toothbrush heads in there!

I never thought of this! I throw the bath toys in there but never thought of doing toothbrushes. Great idea. Thanks!
