People Do Live Here!

We had this house built five years ago, but I just now got family pictures on the wall. There is something about me and pictures!

I had a long list of home project dreams in my mind when we moved in here, but real life happened, and five years later you can finally tell that people actually live here. Besides the mess, that is! : )

I just love seeing the people I love up there on the wall. I find myself stopping to stare at them often throughout the day, and Prince Charming's favorite game is to have me walk him by each picture while he "talks" to them and laughs at them.

As much as I'm loving the new pictures, I've found I have a decorating dilemma. I think I need to do something about all of the empty space above the pictures. Do any of you have ideas or suggestions? King Charming thought maybe I should stencil something scrolly and the word "Family."

I know that among my readers are some crafty, clever, Martha Stewarts, with Pottery Barn taste. What would you do? Would you just leave it alone?

Oh yeah...

Remember when I couldn't decide which picture to buy from my photographer? Well....
I didn't settle on one. I bought small copies of each one for his scrapbook and two 8 x 10s for the walls. It is really your fault you know. You all were no help at all! Ha Ha. Plus, I thought the comments about hat vs. no hat made a lot of sense, so I HAD to get both. : ) Plus, my lovely photographer spoils me and gives me way too good of deals for her talent. I'm so, so, so grateful.

Maybe in another 5 years, I'll actually get to something else on the "to-do" list. Maybe paint? I'll definitely need your help with that one!

Well, I find myself, in my new home, on a personal mission to eliminate white walls, so if that wall were in my home, I'd find a good paint color first. I also like your husband's idea of putting some words or a quote above it. You could stencil it, but there's also a new product out that is like rub-ons for walls. They're made of vinyl and you just rub them on your walls, and when you get tired of them, you can remove them without messing up your paint. Stampin' Up! sells some called Decor Elements, and there are other companies that offer them as well. I even saw some at Ace Hardware the other day; to find other places that sell them, google vinyl wall art.

If you want to check out the Stampin' Up options, go to my demonstrator website at www.kimberlysimon.stampinup.net and click on shop now in the upper left hand corner.

Thanks, Mom. I think you are a little bias about the people in the pictures, though. : )

Kimberly~ That's a great idea! I've been afraid to paint because we have an open floor plan and each wall seems to lead into another. But painting just this one as a focal wall is a good idea. And stenciling sounded scary because I know I could mess that up! Ha Ha. I'll check out the vinyl wall art. My cousin Katy has some in her house and I've always loved it. Thanks for the great tip!

I have a wall of pictures of every month of Sage and above we have enscribed "All because two people fell in love" I love it. It is a good thing we are only having one baby because I don't have the wall space. lol. Love the pictures!

I was going to recommend the vinyl wall art too, they have some cute quotes and phrases...I haven't done it yet for myself but seen them on a few blogs and it would be perfect for that wall.

You should look into uppercase living. It's vinyl wall art. It's really neat, easy, and you can make it as fancy or as casual as you like. I'm totally addicted to it. I think there is a website for it. My cousin sells it.

Don't be too afraid of open floor plans when painting colors on walls, Becky. We painted our kitchen (pictures will be up today), which runs into our living room and it looks incredible we think in part due to the openness of the floor plan. i am a HUGE fan of the vinyl wall art, and am looking forward to using some of it myself!!

Jenifriend~ I can't wait to see the pictures of your new house and painting! My sister-in-law did a great job of painting their open floor plan, too, in their old house. I just need to be braver. : )

Everyone~ I'm loving the Vinyl Art I've found online. Thank you for the tip. Now I want to put it everywhere. My house will end up looking like a novel with all the words I want to put on the wall now. : )

Aww- that looks great! I think you should paint just that one wall AND add some vinyl letters with your favorite scripture or family quote.

Um...just read Kimberly's comment. So....yeah, what she said :)

What about " as for me and my house we will serve the Lord".

I think the words above are a great idea by the way and they make some awesome vinyl.
