Faithfully Fit

I wrote last week about how its time for me to start working on weight loss. This is not a new place for me to be. I've been at the beginning of a weight loss journey soooo many times. Usually I begin by choosing what diet I'm going to do, but this time I've decided I have to start somewhere new. The old way always worked temporarily and kept me from ever getting too far overweight, but it never solved the problem, just fixed it short term. This quote comes to mind:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein

Here's the list: (I'm sure I missed some that I've repressed) : )

Weight Watchers
Diet Center
Nutri Systam
Jenny Craig
T-Factor Diet
Fit For Life
Slim Tea (Don't try this....EVER!!!)
PRISM
Running
South Beach Diet
Slim Fast
Gym Memberships
Drinking Olive Oil (this is HORRIBLE by the way)
Personal Trainer
Counting Calories

Is there anything left I haven't tried? If there is, don't tell me so I won't be tempted. : )

That's embarrassing, actually. Sometimes I wonder why I share so much about myself. : )
Obviously, I need a different approach to this if I'm going to find lasting change. I need to focus on the inside before I'm going to impact the outside for long term.

That's why I want to read Faithfully Fit. I guess the title describes me- "yo-yo lifestyle of chronic dieting." I bought this book seven years ago because my church was doing a small group using it. But as soon as I started it, I found out I was pregnant with Karissa, so I stuck it back on the shelf.

As I've been praying about what to do with the weight battle again, I keep coming back to this book. I think God is telling me to take my own advice and come to him for help first and to let him change me instead of just changing what the scale says or what jean size I wear.

That's also why I included this post on Daiquiri's Seek the Lord Sunday meme. Sometimes we think that we are only supposed to seek Him for the spiritual things and forget that there shouldn't be a separation between our secular lives and our spiritual lives. It should all be His. I've just gotten to the point where I don't even know what to pray for when it comes to fitness any more other than "help" and of course I add "please." : )

I really don't want to do this alone. Do any of you dear readers have the same issues or any issues regarding fitness, weight-loss, health, etc.? I always do best with support and think it would be more fun to do with friends. So I'm hoping you might want to read the book with me.

It is broken up into 42 devotions, so after I read each day's devotion, I'm going to journal about it on my fitness blog. Then I thought we could talk about it in the comments section or we can go to your blog if you blog about it. The book can be bought online for as little as .75 cents, so it isn't a big financial commitment and it isn't a diet, just devotions to help with the spiritual side of fitness.

It's OK if it isn't the right time for anyone else, it will still be good for me, but if you want to join me you can let me know here or on the fitness blog or just get the book and join me when I start on Oct. 20th.

Some Royal Sweetness

We painted onesies as an activity at my baby shower.

This one was mine. I was excited to see him fit into it. : )

And speaking of sweet~

My oldest daughter has been sick for the last few days. She got tired of being housebound I guess, because when I went looking for the girls, this is what I found. Her little sister set up a bedroom for her outside and was nursing her back to health. She kept running back in the house asking me for stuff for Sissy- water cups, coloring pages, games, etc. I guess if American Idol doesn't pan out for her she would make a great nurse. : )

Want to Join Me?

For the last few weeks, I've been blogging on my new fitness blog. I wasn't sure if I was going to "go public" with it. I just needed a place to journal my thoughts and plans. But as I've thought about it, I decided it would be good to have support through this journey.

I also thought it would be great if there are others out there who might want to join me. The title of my new blog is "Climbing My Personal Mount Everest." I describe the meaning of that title in my first post. My goal isn't to just lose weight again. I've done that over and over again. It's more about making lasting change and being free of the yo-yo diet thing.

It isn't a fancy blog right now, and I've only got three posts so far. I'm still postpartum, so I'll be going slow. I've got plans to journal my own journey and to start a book club using this book. It would be great to have other "fellow climbers" join me. We can pray for each other and support each other along the way. If you start a fitness blog of your own, let me know and I'll add you to my sidebar. Or if you just want to cheer me on, I'd appreciate that, too. : )

Here Are the Details for Mia : )

My cousin Mia left this comment on my last post:

So give us details on yours, how much does he weigh now, how is the breast feeding going, are you getting any sleep, how are the big sisters adjusting to the new boy in the house...what is it like being a mom of 3?

OK, Mia, I aim to please....

1. He weighs about 12 pounds already. Can you believe it? I took him into the pediatrician last week and her words were, "His weight gain is phenomenal!" I guess the "girls" are working. : )

2. Breastfeeding: Well- It's a miracle to me that I've made it six weeks and there are parts of it I love so much. I love the cuddle time, I love how much more convenient and cheap it is compared to formula and bottles, and I love the view I have when I look down and see him. I'm so thankful that it is working, but the thrush is still a problem and painful and I get discouraged. I'm thankful for all of the tips from everyone and I'm hopeful it will go away soon so we can get back to enjoying the nursing.

3. Oh sleep, glorious sleep. Isn't it funny how we don't appreciate the good things in life until they are gone? I can't wait to sleep again. There is hope. He's sleeping longer stretches and we have a pretty good routine and schedule down, so maybe he'll surprise me someday soon. (I hope, I hope, I hope....)

4. My girls ADORE their little BenBen. I wondered if there would be any jealousy issues, but thankfully it hasn't been a problem. They get frustrated with me for not letting them mother him and kiss him and hug him and hold him as much as they want to do.

5. Being a mom of 3: Sometimes it is a juggling act, but I have it pretty easy with the girls being older. They are pretty independent and do a lot to take care of themselves. Plus King Charming is a huge help. He makes them breakfast and gets them off to school. The hardest time of the day for me is the bedtime routine or the times when they all need me and I don't know who to help first. It's weird how much it feels like he has always been a part of our family. I can't believe it has been six weeks, because it has gone so fast, but I also can't believe it has only been six weeks because it feels like we've always had him with us.

I've got a cold right now and it is hard to be the responsible one. I just want to crawl into bed and say, "See you all when I feel better." : ) The house is a mess. I have NO IDEA what the girls are going to wear to school tomorrow because we are totally out of clean clothes. And I often feel housebound. I live for about 8:30 at night for that short window of time when all three kids are asleep, and I can have some me time. The good thing about this being the third time is knowing that this is all temporary. When you have your first baby you think, "My life is over." This time I remember that at about the three month mark life will feel normal again, so I just do my best and hang on until we get to normal again.

It helps to have the cutest, sweetest, bestest kids in the universe, too : )
(Remind me I said that tomorrow night at bedtime)

OK...I Have to Brag a Little

Take a look at what my nephew can do...
This kid JUST turned three.
Two months ago he was only two years old.
Never underestimate the power of needing to keep up with your two older brothers. : )

Actually, Zac has many talents. Check out his cartwheels, it will bring a smile to your face. : )

Happy Monday!

Tonight's Verses

I was reading Psalm 116 tonight and these verses were tonight's verses for me. They spoke to me:

1 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
2 Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.

And this one, too:

12 How can I repay the LORD
for all his goodness to me?

On a night when I was feeling the "Sunday Night Blues," I was reminded to go pray (which I'm going to go do right now) and reminded to count my blessings....actually they are too many to count. Thank you, Lord.

Love,

Isn't He Beautiful?????

Just like I promised...the one month photo shoot.

I had a hard time picking my favorites to show you. Isn't our miracle beautiful? : )

I couldn't believe we caught it on film, but this is his actual, real, first smile.

My friend is so talented with her camera! She is hoping to have her own photography business someday and needs encouragement. Would you mind stopping by her blog and letting her know how good she is? : )
