Seeing Green

The Corned Beef and Cabbage are all set to go for dinner tonight with Chocolate Chip Mint Ice Cream for dessert of course.
Yum, Yum, Yum!!

And after the fun we had with our Valentine's Hair-Dos, the girls and I decided we needed shamrocks in their hair today-

All Ready for a Green Day at School-
No Pinching!

Hey!!  Did You Forget Someone, Mom!

See I'm wearing my green, too-

My husband's family on his mom side came from Ireland only two generations ago, and although I can't claim as much, there's some Irish blood in me, too.  We have a lot of fun  celebrating our Irishness and St. Patrick, a man credited with bringing the good news of Christianity to Ireland and who was described as being "humble" and "thankful" for that honor.

Happy St. Patty's Day Everyone!

The Best Birthday EVER!

That's how she described it.

Hearing that and seeing the look on her face in this picture did my heart so much good!!

I love seeing my baby girl so happy.

It really was a fun celebration.  First it was pizza at our house, then a trip to the theater to see Tangled.  (I loved that movie!) and then home for an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and a sleepover.

(It only took me until 1:00 in the morning to get the giggling to stop)

We topped it all off the next morning with some unplanned sleepingbag sledding and a batch of homemade waffles.

It seemed to be a success.  I'm just still in shock that my girl is 9-years-old.  I'm going to be in major shock next year when she turns ten.

That's a decade.

Oh my goodness!

I MUST STOP BLINKING!!!

Four Heroes

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a long time. I've been working hard on getting the new website content written so I can share it soon.

And I've been working hard on staying off the Internet more so I can be a better mom and wife. More on that to come later.

But I HAD to share something with you.

If you have a box of tissues handy, and want to feel good and grateful. Head over here and take a look at these pictures of an awesome homecoming.

Dawnita, Brad, and boys!! Thank you for being heroes for all of us. I'm crying all over again.

Please pass the Kleenex.

Glitter Glitter Everywhere: A Fancy Nancy Birthday Party

Recently, Youngest Princess turned seven! I say it at every new milestone, "How can my baby girl be that old?"

I'm definitely trying to give up blinking all together.

There isn't much that Youngest Princess cares about more than being fancy. She is the girliest of girly girls. When she decided she wanted a Fancy Nancy party, I wasn't the least bit surprised. Her "posh soiree" (that's a fancy way of saying birthday party) was a huge success.

It was a lot of work, but such a fun theme for a party. I spent a lot of time scouring the Internet for ideas, so if you stumbled upon my blog while you were searching for ideas for your own Fancy Nancy party- Welcome to Everyday Becky! : )

As the guests arrived, they stepped into "Becky's Beauty Parlor" (a.k.a. the front porch) where I sprayed them down with glitter and each were given their own pair of fancy sun glasses.

Then we decorated crowns and purses to take to the tea party.

A fancy chef prepared and served tasty delicacies to the tea party guests.

Ooh La La!

Youngest Princess blows out her candle on the "Leaning Tower of Frosting."

This was NOT a cake to write home about. Youngest Princess wanted a tall tower cake, which I tried to make, but once it was made it sunk and shifted and was actually quite ugly, but I'm thankful little girls think anything with crystal sugar sparkles and pink frosting is beautiful. : )

Her friends were so generous:

So were Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Joe:

Is there anything better than cold hard cash??? Hee Hee.

And finally, we played "Pin the Cherry on the Parfait" which was her idea and the one thing Youngest Princess had her heart set on for the party.

This was such a fun (and messy) party. We will be vacuuming glitter for a very long time. If you are planning a Fancy Nancy party of your own, recruit reinforcements. Thank you Daiquiri, Nancy, Jen, and Angela!!! I could not have pulled this off without your help. I'm so thankful for great friends.

Happy Birthday Princess! I'm so proud of the beautiful girl you are inside and out. I love you!

My Favorite Holiday!

I loved the girls' sweet Easter dresses, tights, and fancy shoes.

I loved watching Prince Charming taste his very first "Peep."

I loved having King Charming with us for church even though he had to function on less than an hour and 1/2 of sleep because of his crazy work schedule.

I loved the Egg Hunt and my annual Easter Bunny Cake that brings back childhood memories of my Grandma's annual bunny cake:

But I think my Facebook status from last weekend says what I loved best of all:

My favorite holiday. Celebrating the hope of ALL mankind this weekend. No greater love! Our Hero has come and rescued us. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"

Hope you enjoyed celebrating the most pivotal point of human history! I hope you know Him, too, and have allowed Him to be your Hero.
If you ever have questions about my faith, feel free to ask.

Love to all!

A Party Fit for a Dog Lover

Last week, Oldest Princess turned 8-Years-Old!!!!

I'm so proud of my big girl.

How is it possible that my baby is eight? That sounds so old! I'm not going to let myself blink anymore. Every time I do, my babies get older.

Speaking of proud-

I'm also pretty proud of my dalmatian cake. : )

Belated Anniversary

On June 19, King Charming and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. Only, it wasn't much of a celebration. We were unable to find a babysitter that night, so we rented a movie and made the most of a "stay at home" date.

When we got to Mom and Dad's "bed and breakfast," they volunteered to keep the kids while we got away for a belated anniversary date. We jumped at the chance! : )

So Thursday, we drove to Leavenworth, WA, a little tourist town at the base of the Cascades they've turned into a Bavarian village. You feel like you are in the alps!

Look at this view out our hotel room window!

King Charming, being the grand deal finder, was able to surprise me with a suite!

We walked in and found bathrobes,

chocolate mints,

even a rubber ducky!

I really felt like royalty.

That night we drove to the ski hill to an outdoor amphitheater and watched a performance of The Sound of Music. So fun! I loved walking up the hill on the path lit with white lights up to the amphitheater. The little kids in the musical were amazing and so talented. It was all magical.

Then the next morning, I woke up and said, "I miss my kids. Time to go home to Mom and Dad's!" I made it less than 24 hours! Ha Ha.

We stopped by Liberty Orchards Aplets and Cotlets candy factory in Cashmere on the way home and watched them making the candy. Aplets and Cotlets are my dad's ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CANDY IN THE WHOLE WORLD, so we brought home a thank you gift for the babysitting.

It was so nice to be away with my husband. 10 years has been a blink. I didn't think I could love you any more on the first day, but every day I love you more, King Charming.

I heard this song the other day, and I'm so thankful I will never have to go back to the day before you. Happy Belated Anniversary Baby!

I had all but given up on finding the one that I could fall into
On the day before you
I was ready to settle for less than love and not much more
There was no such thing as a dream come true
But that was on the day before you

Now you're here and everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to the day before you

In your eyes I see forever
And it makes me wish that my life never knew the day before you
Oh, but heaven knows those years without you
Were shaping my heart for the day that I found you

And if you're the reason for all I've been through
then I'm thankful for the day before you

Now you're here and everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to the day before you
It was the last day that I ever lived alone

And I'm never going back
No, I'm never going back

To the day before you.

Oh the Joy of Sick Children...

The vomiting began Thursday evening.

We were ready to go on our trip to visit family for the 4th. The girls were beyond excited to see cousins. Everyone was expecting us. Then Prince Charming decided it would be a great time to throw up for the first time. In the car. In the carseat. You know the car we planned to be driving in for six hours the next morning?? Then he got me. I'm not exaggerating when I say he got me from head to toe, even down my shirt. Then all over his bed. Thanks, Buddy.

I didn't know what to do. We were all so excited and ready for our trip, but I didn't want to take sick kids, especially since I'd be traveling alone. I had just given him a bottle from a can of formula that was given to us as a sample in the hospital. It said it was good until 2011, so I didn't think it would be a problem. The timing for the throwing up matched up perfectly with the new formula and he didn't act sick at all. So I tossed the can, got up the next morning, and watched him for awhile, and decided he was fine, chalking it up to a bad can of formula.

And he was fine. All the way to Nana's house, until he decided to throw up again in the middle of the night. Then twice more the next afternoon.

Then Oldest Princess decided it would be a good idea to get sick the morning we were supposed to head home. So we traveled the six hours home stopping to throw away sick bags.

By Monday, she was feeling great, but I kept her inside away from neighbor kids to make sure she was better. Poor Littlest Princess was bored out of her mind because she had to stay home, too. I thought it was all behind us by Monday night.

King Charming and I had a date planned for the evening. I wasn't sure if we should still go through with it, and neither was the mom of our babysitter. She's a friend of mine with six kids and didn't want her crew exposed. I don't blame her. But we had hired her son to come over after we put the kids to bed so we could go out for an hour or two to give us a date and him a chance to raise money for camp. I told her he wouldn't be interacting with the kids since they would be asleep by the time he got here, and I promised to use a bunch of Lysol. She agreed.

Sure enough, while we were gone Littlest Princess decided it was her turn. My friend had to come over and help until we got back. I felt so guilty.

Now I've heard that Nana got sick after we left. I'm sure everyone is just so glad we decided to grace them with our presence. I just made one bad decision after another. In my defense, I really did believe it was just the formula.

So, the moral of the story is: If one child gets sick, cancel ALL PLANS until EVERYONE in the household has had it. Then add another few days on to that just to be safe.

This is my official apology to all involved. : )

You know what, though? I'm glad I was dumb. Don't tell anyone, but I'm still glad we went on our trip: Amazingly, it was a great trip. Despite the sickness, I loved seeing my family and watching my kids have so much fun. The girls had a BLAST! And I realized something: I have really great, fun to be with kids. We had such a good time on our drive. You know you have great kids when you enjoy them on a road trip.

And King Charming took me hiking on the foothills last night for our date. I got to watch the sun set from the top of a hill overlooking our valley. That was worth all of the apologies I'm going to have to make to my friend this morning. That is if she still is my friend....

I'm So Thankful "I Did"

Ten years ago today, I said, "I Do" to the man of my dreams.

A decade later, I am so grateful "I Did."

I remember being so nervous to walk down the aisle. But as I stepped up to the door and looked down to the front of the church, the only thing I saw was him. All fear and nerves left me instantly. I thought, "I can't wait to get down that aisle to him."

He is still the man of my dreams.

Thank you for continuing to sweep me off my feet, King Charming.

I love you more than you can know.

Kindergarten Graduation- Keeping Grandma Happy

Grandma is getting a little impatient with me and is demanding MORE PICTURES and MORE VIDEO of her grandchildren.

Here you go, Grandma. loads of photos and videos. : )

My kindergartner, all dressed up and ready to graduate

I had leftover material when I finished sewing her sundress, so Sarah-doll got one, too:

This is my favorite of the sundresses I've made.

(Directions for making your own are here. If you sew one, you are OBLIGATED to email me a picture) : )

All ready to march.

Performing for the Parents:

"I want to be a gymnast when I grow up."

(In her picture, she is wearing the unitard we got her for her birthday and she is upside down on the balance beam. Can you see the spectators in the stands?)

Celebrating with some sugar:
