Did I Really ASK for This???

Remember this post from a little over a month ago? The one where I said I couldn't wait to hear Prince Charming say, "Mama"?

Yeah.

That.

Be careful what you ask for.

That little boy says, "Mama" alright.

He screams it from his crib at 3 A.M. just because he misses me.

His nap time has shrunk to half the time it once was because he used to be content to play until I came for him.

That was before he discovered the magic of his own voice! And the magic of calling for a mama who waited months and months to hear him say her name.

This recording is the mild version of his before nap, "But I don't want to go to bed" version of "Mama." (Ignore the sideways picture of the door, LOL)

I didn't have the where-with-all to videotape the 3 A.M. screaming my head off version. : ) Besides, I'm not sure you'd want to hear that.

Seriously, I am amazed at how quickly he is catching on to speech. It seems like new words are popping up everyday. He's still struggling with certain consonant sounds, but his SLP has a theory about why that I'll be running by his pediatrician next week. But all in all, the progress has been awesome.

I love observing his SLP appointments. When something doesn't come easily, each new word, each step of progress feels like a huge victory. Sometimes I just want to shout, "Did you hear that world??? He just said cow!"

I'm proud of my boy.

Please remind me of that fact when I'm paged around 3 AM tonight. : )

Four Heroes

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a long time. I've been working hard on getting the new website content written so I can share it soon.

And I've been working hard on staying off the Internet more so I can be a better mom and wife. More on that to come later.

But I HAD to share something with you.

If you have a box of tissues handy, and want to feel good and grateful. Head over here and take a look at these pictures of an awesome homecoming.

Dawnita, Brad, and boys!! Thank you for being heroes for all of us. I'm crying all over again.

Please pass the Kleenex.

BeckyAvella.com Coming Soon!

It's time for my little corner of Cyberspace to have a makeover.

In August, I'll be launching a new website at www.BeckyAvella.com

I'm excited to have a central location for my writing and speaking ministry and Everyday Becky's blog will still be here, just with a hip new cyber "outfit". I hope you'll like it. : )

I don't have an official launch date yet, but I wanted to give you a heads up so you can be looking for the celebration and giveaways coming soon.

Think of my blog right now as my "before" picture before the makeover reveal.

Vacation Flashback: Beautiful Mt. Rainier

After a super fun family reunion, our next stop was Ohanapecosh Campground in Mt. Rainier National Park to break in our new (to us) tent trailer:

Isn't Ohanapecosh a great name? Say that five times fast:

Ohanapecosh Ohanapecosh Ohanapecosh Ohanapecosh Ohanapecosh

We stayed for five days.
(This explains the absence of adults in these pictures. We were all camera shy after a week without showers. )

It was five days of hiking, playing games, eating s'mores, hanging out by the campfire, and visiting Grandma and Grandpa in their new camper for early morning cups of hot chocolate:

Hey, Aunt Becky!! I saw you eyeballing my hot chocolate!

The big kids went every morning to the Ranger Station for the kids' program and were proudly sporting "Junior Ranger" badges all week.

The following pictures were taken standing in our campsite. We definitely had the best site there. Isn't it beautiful?

Thank you, Lord, for the beauty we saw and the magical childhood memories made.

Nana's Midas Touch

I've always hoped that someday I could grow up and have even a little of my grandmother's gift for making her home a place of beauty. Even as a little girl I was aware of how nice Nana's home was and loved being there.

During the first weekend of our vacation we stayed at Nana's house and although my pictures will never be able to capture exactly how her home feels to me, nor will I be able to give a complete picture of how pretty it all is, I wanted to share with all of you a glimpse of one of my favorite places to be:

My Book is Ready to Order! : )

I'm home from vacation-

Well rested.

Grateful.

And with good news to share!

My book is ready to order~

So many of you have been following my blog for a long time and have prayed for me and this book. I can't thank you enough!

Please keep praying.

Please pray it will touch hearts and point many people to hope and healing.

Please pray for me. I'm feeling insecure and nervous, but also excited to see what God has planned.

I love you all so much!

I'm Leaving in a Tundra....

Don't know when I'll be back again (because vacation just sounds so good, I might never return)

I'm off to family, camping, relaxation, and hopefully at least one day to sleep in.

I'm going to take a blogging break, too, so my family will get my full attention.

I'll see you July 19th!!!

Hope you are having a Popsicle eating, sprinkler running through, s'more eating kind of summer.

See you soon!

Love,
