Following Her Dreams

We've been busy this summer! But it has been a fun, happy, busy.

The month of June disappeared into a blur of swimming lessons and gymnastics. Everyday we drove to our local college, and the girls would swim and then immediately afterward, we'd stay to watch Youngest Princess do her gymnastics.

I mentioned before that she has big dreams about being a future Shawn Johnson, so for her birthday this year we gave her this three week gymnastics camp to see if she really liked it or not.

"Like it" is an understatement. She was IN HEAVEN. I know I'm a biased mom, but I was surprised by how much natural ability she has. It must come from her dad's side of the family because she can do stuff with her body that I would never have been able to do. It was so fun to watch her. The best part was the gleam in her eye and the total joy she had being in that gym. I think she has found her niche. She told me the other day, "Mommy, I was BORN to do gymnastics."

King Charming and I have been talking, and I think we are going to budget to let her be a part of a gymnastics league this fall. (Don't tell her that though, Grandma. We aren't telling her until we figure out the details)

It is so much fun seeing your kids doing something they love and doing it well. She learned so much in just three short weeks. I wish I took better pictures and video. The one day I brought my camera, they did different activities, but I promised Grandpa some pictures and video, so I'll try to get more this fall that are better:

This video shows you what a strong little monkey she is:

Her brother and sister were such troopers, sitting and watching their sister have fun for an hour. I think it was important for her to have her own thing though. Oldest Princess has expressed a total love for basketball. They are only thirteen and 1/2 months a part and have always done everything together. It is cool to see them expressing and exploring their own interests and supporting each other while they do it.

I hope you all have a happy Independence Day! I am Miss Spontaneity and decided at the last minute to take a trip to visit family for the 4th. I have one day to get laundry done, packed, and then take off with three kids all by myself. (King Charming has to work. Boo Hoo) He always misses all the fun.

Happy 4th of July!

Love,

How fun! Have a great trip. I know what you mean about husband having to miss all the fun: Richard has worked every Christmas we have known each other and I'm pretty sure this is the first 4th he will be here for. Such is the life!
How fun that you have such a talented little gymnast on your hands! Can't wait for all the updates in the fall. And you have to tell us how you tell her! What fun!

As you know I am an expert on going places by myself. Scott was never able to do anything in the summer but I understood and we just did more in the winter. Can't wait to see you and the kids Becky. Drive safe and I'll pray for your trip.

It's so great that you are lettng the girls chose for themselves the things they enjoy. We did and katy got really expensive with the horses but it was such a joy to watch her on them. She was such a natural. Too bad she doesn't have one now. Em, Dan and Brian werent so expensive but time consuming and Charlie, well he likes to golf with Scott and I. How can you beat that? :0)
